The Estate

Tenuta Secolo IX welcomes you to this place steeped in history, whose age-old traditions have supported and still support local winegrowers, and guaranteeing authentic quality.

At the foot of Mount Morrone, in the heart of Abruzzo, Europe’s green region of monumental mountains that soar skywards and plunge deep into plush valleys with their many ancient villages, the landscape rolls as far as the sea.

History, art, culture

Tenuta Secolo IX has held on to a strong bond with the district and its distinctive traits, in particular with the abbey of San Clemente a casauria now a national monument and in the past a meeting place and a symbol of development and progress. As a place of debate and growth it became crucial for the recovery of the cultivation of Moscatello.

The skill and wisdom that were the bedrock of wine and oil production in the past, have been handed down to the present day and they are precisely what give that added value of commitment, research and dedication, nuances easily recognized in our products.

Reviving a tradition

Tenuta Secolo IX builds its bond with the past of these lands by adopting local winegrowing traditions and winemaking methods, combining them with state-of-the-art technologies to enrich the traits of grape and wine.

Interaction, development and social ethics with respect to nature are the underpinning of this new reality.

Our philosophy

Tenuta Secolo IX produces its wines with sheer determination, method, and joyful socialization, sharing the straightforward integrity of the local population, fully engaged in the concept expressed by the local motto: strong, kind Abruzzo.

Our grapes

Our vines are characterized by favorable and unique pedoclimatic conditions that give wines unrepeatable flavors and hints. We grow dark and powerful grapes, characterized by hints of cherry and morello cherry.

From these we obtain our Montepulciano d’Abruzzo PDO and the Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo PDO, typologies of very precious Abruzzo wines, appreciated and sought all over the world. From our white grapes, as well as the typical Pecorino d’Abruzzo PGI, we obtain the dry white Moscato, aromatic wine with an unrepeatable flavor and the very precious Moscatello Passito.

The Moscato

Depending on the type of processing it can be transformed into a delicious and aromatic dry white wine or passito and therefore sweeter, known as “Moscatello”, sought after and appreciated for the balance between sweet and savory notes.

Not only wine

The quality, attention to detail and care that characterize our processing of raw materials, make our wines unique and enhance convivial moments of all kinds, making them matchless sensory experiences tinged with magical flavours.
